Precautions for industrial chiller installation

If you already have some experience in operating chiller equipment, you can choose to do it yourself to save labor costs and time. Pay more attention to a few details, and the chiller will reward you with better performance and longer service life.

Here are the precautions you need to know before proceeding:

Selection of equipment location: For air-cooled chillers, we need a well-ventilated open space. Make sure that there are no obstacles or walls within 1m around, otherwise it will cause difficulty in air circulation and heat dissipation. The point is that we need to ensure that the heat removed from the chiller can be moved outside instead of being circulated in a small space. The distance of the stoppers also ensures a protective space. If you plan to install an air-cooled chiller in a poorly ventilated space, you need to consider installing an air duct on the top of the chiller near the condenser fan to ensure heat dissipation.

For water-cooled chillers, we only need to reserve enough protection space, because the heat of the chiller is transferred to the cooling tower through the water.

Place the chiller on the ground: It is necessary for the industrial chiller to be placed on a firm, flat concrete floor that can support the weight of the chiller. The levelness of the floor should be within 6mm. The chiller will vibrate when it is running. If the floor is not strong or flat, the chiller is easy to shift, especially the portable chiller with casters. Rough ground will increase the vibration of the chiller, and running for a long time will cause serious failure.

For large chillers, we need to build concrete foundations for them. It is necessary to fill the absorption gap of 50-100mm with sand or asphalt around the foundation. There should be bolt holes on the foundation for fastening the chiller base and the concrete foundation together.

After doing the above things, we can put the chiller on the foundation. Then we need a spirit level to check for any skew. If so, adjust by placing parallel lines between the chiller base and the concrete foundation.
